1 killed in Comilla \\\'gun fight\\\'

An alleged robber was killed and three other people, including two cops, were injured in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Hasanpur on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Daudkandi upazila in Comilla on Monday. The deceased could not be identified. Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Police Station, said a gang of robbers intercepted a Cox’s Bazar-bound private car from Dhaka on Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 3:00am. The criminals opened fire on Tajel Barua, driver of the car, while he was trying to flee the scene. At that time, a police patrol team obstructed the gangsters who fired shots at the cops, leaving sub-inspector (SI) Atikur Rahman and constable Yusuf bullet-hit. Police in retaliation fired back leaving one of the bandits also bullet-hit. The injured robber was rushed to Gouripur Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead, according to UNB.
