A suspected robber has been killed in an alleged exchange of fire with police at Satkhira. Two policemen were also injured in the skirmish on Friday morning at Chhoyghoria More, police claimed. Police identified the deceased as Islam Morol, 45, and claimed he led a gang of robbers at Satkhira. Satkhira Sadar police OC Enamul Haq said, ‘A police team approached the Chhoyghoria More on learning that a gang was preparing for robbery. ‘The robbers first opened fire and lobbed homemade bombs at police and an encounter ensued.’ Haq said Morol, shot in the leg, was detained after the skirmish. He was rushed to the Satkhira Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead. A local gun and three machetes were recovered from the scene, the OC said. Police constables Nurul Haq and Shahidul Islam, injured in the clash, have been given first aid, he said, according to bdnews24.com.
