A man was killed in a ‘shootout’ between a gang of robbers and police in Kaliganj Upazila in Jhenidah district on Tuesday. Police, however, could not confirm the man’s identity, who the police claim to have belonged to a gang of robbers. Kaliganj Police Station OC Anwar Hossain said the encounter took place past midnight on Tuesday on the Kalinganj-Jibannagar road. A firearm, one round of ammunition and a machete had been recovered from the spot, he said. ‘The robbers fled after a gunfight that lasted for at least ten minutes. Police found a man with gunshot wounds at the spot,’ said the police officer, adding that he had been taken to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead, according to bdnews24.com.
