1 shot dead, 5 injured in Pabna

A young man was killed and five other people were injured in a clash between two groups over establishing supremacy at Aoutapara village at Ishwardi Upazila in Pabna on Saturday night. The dead is Siddik Biswas, 45, son of late Sanu Biswas, a resident of the village. Ishwardi Police Station’s officer-in-charge Biman Kumar Das said there has been a long standing enmity between Mahamud Kasai group and Alauddin Biswas group over establishing supremacy at the village. Equipped with firearms and other lethal weapons, the two groups confronted each other around 9:30pm on Saturday. At one stage, people of Mahamud Kasai group opened fire on supporters of Alauddin Biswas, leaving Siddik, brother of Alauddin Biswas, killed by bullets and five other people injured, most of them by bullets. Informed, police rushed to the spot and quelled the situation. The injured were admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Police recovered the body of Siddik and sent it to the hospital for autopsy, according to UNB.
