Suspected stalkers shot to death a man at Banshkhali upazila in Chittagong district on Monday night. Family sources and local people said Fazlul Qader Manik, 27, son of Noor Ahmed of Uzanipara village was shot dead presumably as he protested against stalking of his cousins by some local young men. Locals said Manik came under an attack by the miscreants while he was returning home from Purba Chambal Bazar around 11:00pm. The attackers opened fire at him from a point-blank range, leaving him critically injured. He was first taken to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He died at CMCH around 2:00am, CMCH police camp sources said. Locals said Manik protested as some identified young men teased his cousins in a local fair in Purba Chambal area on Sunday. The stalkers might have killed Manik over the issue, they alleged, according to UNB.
