1 shot dead by robbers: 6 injured

A man was shot dead, allegedly by robbers at Boalia Ambaria village under Kalukhali Police Station in Rajbari early Monday. The dead is Mofiz Uddin, 29, of the village. Six other people were injured by the robbers. Locals said, said a gang of 10-12 robbers stormed the house of one Shahabuddin at the village around 2:30am and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint. After looting gold ornaments, Tk 10,000 in cash, a motorcycle and other valuable items, they made an attempt to decamp with booties. At one stage, the inmates of the house raised a hue and cry. Hearing screams, local people rushed in and chased the robbers. Sensing danger, the bandits fired several gunshots, leaving Mofiz Uddin dead on the spot and six others injured. The injured were admitted to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex. The condition of one of the injured – Safiuddin – was stated to be critical, according to a news agency.
