A Bangladeshi cattle trader was tortured to death allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at Debhata upazila in Satkhira district on Sunday evening. Locals said, the body of Rubel Hossain was recovered from Komorpur village on Bangladesh-India frontier at night. Police and locals said Rubel Hossain was the son of Moslem Ali, a resident of Haroddoha village of the Sadar upazila. Family members said Rubel went to India along with two other men to bring cattle from the neighbouring country. Ashadul, who went to India with Rubel, said a group of BSF troops captured Rubel and Kawser Ali, the other associate of Rubel, while they were returning from India. Ashadul alleged that the BSF men tortured Rubel to death and threw his body in a river on India-Bangladesh border. Lt Col Khalid Bin Yousuf, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-38, said, the border guards recovered Rubel’s body from the river and handed it over to police, according to a news agency.
