10 BCL activists sent to jail in Sylhet

A court in Sylhet on Monday sent 10 local leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to jail after rejecting their bail petitions in a case filed in connection with a clash between two groups at Shahjiragaon village in Bishwanath upazila of Sylhet district on July 25. Judge Umme Sharaban Tahura of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order when the BCL men appeared before her court. Faijul Islam Joy, convener of Bishwanath upazila unit of BCL, was among the arrestees. The court also rejected the bail petitions of them when their lawyers filed separate petitions seeking bail for them, according to a news agency.
