10 BNP activists held in Pabna

PABNA, Nov 29: Police arrested 10 BNP leaders and activists in Chatmohar, Bhangura and Sujanagar upazila of Pabna on Monday.
The district unit BNP could not hold any protest rally in the district headquarter on Monday due to police obstruction. Meanwhile, Ishwardi police filed a case against 230 JCD, Juba Dal and BNP leaders and activists on different charges.
Officer in Charge of Chatmohar police station Sayed Shahid Alam said that the police arrested Abu Hanif, President of Handial union unit BNP of the upazila, Ismail Hossain, Secretary of the same unit,. Abdus Sattar, Organising Secretary of the same unit and Saiful Islam, Secretary of Mathurapur union unit BNP of the upazila from the upazila market on Monday morning.
Chatmohar police station incharge Syed Shahid Alam told they arrested the opposition men on suspicion of carrying out subversive activities during the BNP called hartal.
Bhangura police arrested Ashraf Ali, Nazmlul Islam and Habibur Rahman, all are BNP activists from Char Bhangura village of the upazila on Monday.
Sujanagar police station in charge ABM Jahidul Islam said the Sujaganar police arrested among the BNP activists Barek Ali, Abdul Karim and Abdul Hamid from the upazila market area on Monday noon. They are accused in different cases, the OC said.
Meanwhile, Sub-inspector of Ishwardi police station Azgar Ali Sunday night filed a case against 230 activists of BNP and its front organisations -- Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal -- with the police station on charge of attacking police.
Samiul Alam, officer-in-charge of the police station, said the accused BNP men attacked the on duty police personnel on Saturday while they brought out a procession in Ishwardi railway bazaar area. At least 10 people including three policemen sustained injuries in the incident.

Three killed in road mishap
Three people were killed and two injured when a bus rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Pabna-Ishwardi Highway at Dashuria on Monday noon.
The deceased were identified as Wahiduzzaman Dablu (45), Ariful Islam (50) and Godhuly (10).
Of them Dablu and Godhuly died in Ishwardi health complex while the CNG driver Ariful died on the spot.
Police and the witnesses said an Ishwardi-bound bus Tamanna Paribahan crashed into a three-wheeler coming from opposite directions at about 1:00pm, killing its driver and injuring four passengers on the spot.
