10 BNP men held

Police in overnight drives have arrested 10 local leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) from different Upazilas in Jessore district. The drive started on Saturday night and continued till early Sunday. Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Police Station, said the 10 BNP leaders and workers were arrested on apprehension that they could carry out violence during the nationwide hartal called by BNP for Monday. Among them, three people were picked up from different points of Jessore Sadar Upazila, four from Manirampur, two from Chowgachha and one from Jhikargachha Upazila, according to a news agency.
