10 cops hurt in clash with Shibir men

SYLHET, Apr 7 (UNB): At least 10 policemen were injured in a clash with the activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, pro-Jamaat-e-Islami student organisation, at Uttar Kathaltali village in Barlekha upazila on Sunday night.
Police and locals said a group of Shibir activists, numbering 15-20, were holding a meeting at a house at Uttar Kathaltali village around 9:00pm.
On information, local leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) confined them there and informed police.
When a team from Barlekha thana rushed to the spot, the Shibir men through loudspeaker of the local mosque announced that a robber gang entered the village.
The Shibir men threw brick chips at policemen, leaving 10 policemen, including Sub-inspector Qazi Ziauddin, injured.
