10-day Chobi Mela kicks off

The tenth edition of Chobi Mela, one of the prestigious photography festivals in Asia, began in the capital on Thursday.
The inaugural ceremony at Chhayanaut Auditorium followed a procession from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute.
US-based Rubin Museum of Art curator Beth Citron, Nepali writer and editor Kunda Dixit, Indian photographer Raghu Rai and economist Rehman Sobhan were the guests of honour at the event.
Festival director and photographer Shahidul Alam presided over the programme.
Lifetime achievement award 2019 was presented posthumously to Dr Nawajesh Ahmed, an internationally renowned photographer, agriculture scientist and author, for his outstanding contribution to photography in Bangladesh.
