At least 10 houses and five shops were gutted in separate incidents of fire in Sherpur and Munshiganj districts on Tuesday. In Sherpur, a fire broke out at Old Shreebardi under Shreebardi upazila yesterday, burning down 10 houses. Locals said the fire originated from a house and it soon engulfed nine other adjacent houses. On information, a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and tamed the blaze after two hours of frantic efforts. The fire damaged over 300 maunds of rice and roasted alive several cattle and poultry birds. In Munshiganj, at least five shops were gutted in a fire which erupted at a shop at Sirajdikhan Bazar under Sirajdikhan Upazila. Fire service officials said the fire originated from an electric shot circuit at a shop at midnight and quickly spread, engulfing four other shops. Later, two firefighting units rushed in and controlled the flame, according to UNB.
