10 houses with property gutted in Debiganj fire

RANGPUR, Feb 25 (BSS): Nineteen rooms of ten houses with huge properties were gutted by a devastating fire incident at village Sarkerpara under Chilahati union of Debiganj upazila in Panchagarh district in the small hours Wednesday.
According to official sources and local public representatives, erupting from the kitchen of one Lokman Hossain, the fire soon engulfed the adjoining houses amid blowing winds gutting 19 rooms of ten houses belonging to ten families of the village.
Being informed, the Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel from its nearby Domar Station in Nilphamari district rushed to the spot and distinguished the fire in association with the local villagers.
One Delwar Hossain (45), and another Bedena Begum (38), sustained burn injuries in the incident and both of them were rushed to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex.
Officials of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Police, Debiganj upazila chairman Hasanuzzaman Chowdhury George and Chairman of Chilahati union Shahidul Islam have visited the spot and talked the victim family members.
Members of the victim families claimed that huge furniture, clothes, cash money, rice, paddy and cattle-heads worth around Tk 2 million (20 lakh) have been gutted in the devastating fire incident.
