10 hurt, 40 houses damaged in Bagerhat tornado

At least 10 people were injured and 40 houses damaged as tornado lashed Dhakra and Kumarkhali villages of Perukhali union in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district on Thursday. The storm hit the two villages around at 9:30 am and lasted for one and a half minutes. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Babu, chairman of Perikhali union parishad, said ten people were injured as houses and trees collapsed on them when tornado hit the villages. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, deputy commissioner of Bagerhat district, said Rampal upazila planning officer was sent to the villages to make a list of the people affected by the storm, according to a news agency.
