10 hurt as factory workers clash at Gazipur

GAZIPUR, July 21 (UNB): Workers of two factories located in the same building in the town clashed Saturday leaving one of the owners and nine workers wounded.
Police and witnesses said the clash occurred over teasing of female workers of Stock Home Knitwear Factory by those of Merchant Sweater Factory in the morning.
Merchant Sweater workers allegedly attacked the rivals with stick and knives, damaged windowpanes and furniture. Shafiqul Islam, an owner of the knitwear factory and nine workers were wounded in the attack.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
After the incident both the factories were closed for the day.
