10 hurt as RMG workers clash with cops

Friday, 13 June 2014

At least 10 garment workers were injured as they clashed with police at North Badda in the city Friday during their demonstrations.
Locals said several hundred workers of ‘Tuba Fashion’ situated at North Badda started demonstrations at noon demanding payment of their due salaries and allowances.
At one stage, they blocked the main road near ‘Fuji Tower’ at about 3pm, according to a news agency.
On information, police went to the spot and tried to pacify the agitated garment workers. As the RMG workers refused to move away from the road, the law enforcers charged batons and sprayed coloured water from water cannon at about 4pm to disperse the unruly workers, leaving 10 workers injured.
