10 hurt in attack by a faction of BCL men in Pabna

Pabna, May 3 (UNB): At least 10 people were injured in an attack by a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in the district town Sunday night.
The agitated activists also damaged a number of shops and vehicles creating panic among the people.
Police said a conference of district BCL unit was held at the Bandhan Community Centre in the town at night in which a committee was announced in presence of state minister for home Shamsul Haque Tuku and some central BCL leaders.
The committee was formed with Ahmad Sharif Dablu as its president and Rafiqul Islam as general secretary.
Soon after the announcement of the committee, a rival group equipped with sticks staged demonstration in the town rejecting the committee.
At one stage they ransacked a number shops of district Awami League leaders and activists and damaged some running vehicles leaving 10 people injured.
