10 injured in AL-factional clash

PABNA, May 22 (UNB): At least 10 persons were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League (AL) activists over according reception to a local Member of Parliament (MP) and a Upazila chairman at Ananta Bazar area of the district town Thursday afternoon.
Police and witnesses said the activists of district AL were making arrangements for according reception to local AL MP (Pabna-5) Golam Faruq Khandaker Prince and Sadar Upazila chairman Mosharraf Hossain.
But local AL leaders and activists became angry for not being included in preparatory committee of the reception.
Later, an altercation ensued between two groups of AL activists which led to the clash leaving 10 persons injured from both sides.
Of the injured, Helal Uddin (40), Kamal Hossain (42) and Firoz Hossain (35), were rushed to Pabna General Hospital in critical condition.
