At least 10 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured in a clash between two rival groups of the ruling Awami League's student organisation at Dhaka College on Monday. Campus sources said two rival BCL groups engaged in a fierce clash inside a dormitory of Dhaka College over supremacy on the campus at about 1:00 am. Both the groups, comprising supporters of Sakib Hasan Swim, expelled general secretary of the BCL's Dhaka College unit, locked in clashes with lethal weapons, firearms and crude bombs, leaving 10 people injured. Five motorcycles were also set ablaze during the clash, which ended at about 2:00 am. Several rooms of the college hostel were vandalised during the melee. Additional police forces went to the spot and took position outside the campus. The law enforcers brought the situation under control by lobbing a dozen rounds of tear gas canisters and firing bullets. Several students were arrested from the campus, according to a news agency.
