A clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) left at least 10 people injured at Dinajpur Medical College on Tuesday. Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station's OC Altaf Hossain said at least 10 students were injured in the clash, in which sharp weapons were used. Among them, Ibrahim Khalil, ‘Sahidul’ and ‘Rasedul’ were hospitalised. A section of the warring students also attacked police when they arrived. The students clashed with police for over an hour when they reached the spot, OC Altaf Hossain said. ‘Hillol’, ‘Jisan’ and ‘Sohag’ were taken into police custody. The OC also said a group had attacked the Dr Md Yousuf Ali Hall during the clash by breaking a police cordon. The law enforcers did a baton-charge to take control of the situation. College Principal Dr Kamrul Ahsan said that tension prevailed since November 13 over formation of the medical college unit BCL committee. He said the academic council meeting decided that classes and exams would be held as usual and student political activities would remain suspended for the next three months, according to a news agency.
