10 injured in missionary school attack

At least 10 people have been injured as miscreants attacked a missionary school in Gazipur after spreading rumours that the institution is converting students from Islam to Christianity.
The attack happened at Steve Kim Mission School at Ambagh in the district town Wednesday. Police arrested five people suspecting their involvement in the incident.
School in-charge Michael Mandal said: “A local vested interest group has vandalised the school and assaulted the teachers after spreading rumours of conversion out of jealousy.”
Local businessman Rafiqul Islam said Love Bangladesh Mission started the school in April this year by enrolling students from play group to eighth grade.
Islam said some influential people linked to the kindergartens spread rumours that Steve Kim Mission School was ‘forcefully’ converting the students from Islam to Christianity.
At least 10 people including teachers and students were injured in the attack, according to a news agency.
