10 killed as train rams bus in Jhenidah

At least 10 people were killed and 30 others injured as a train rammed a bus in Kaliganj upazila in Jhenidah district on Friday. The deceased could not be identified immediately. Kaliganj police said the Khulna-bound ‘Simanto Express’ train from Jessore rammed the bus carrying a bridal party on Barobazar Level Crossing around 3:40am, leaving nine passengers of the bus dead on the spot. One of the injured passengers died at the upazila health complex. The other injured passengers were admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital and Jessore General Hospital. Rail communications between Khulna and other parts of the country came to halt following the accident, according to a news agency.
