10 killed in Bogura, Barishal, Gazipur, Ishwardi road crashes

A total of ten people were killed in separate road accidents in Bogura, Barishal, Gazipur and Ishwardi districts road accidents on Saturday, report agencies.
In Bogura, five people including a woman and her son were killed in separate road accidents in Adamdighi and Shajahanpur upazilas of Bogura district on Friday night and early Saturday.
In Adamdighi upazila, three people were killed in a head-on-collision between two trucks on Bogra-Naogaon regional highway at Murail early Saturday.
Two of the deceased were identified as Mostaque, 45, and Rafiqul Islam, 34, while the identity of the other could not be known immediately.
The accident occurred around 3:30am when the two trucks collided head-on, leaving three people dead on the spot, said Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Adamdighi Police Station.
In Shahjahanpur upazila, a woman and her five-year-old son were killed and another was injured when a truck hit a motorbike on Dhaka-Bogra highway at Katabaria on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Zakia Akter Tasli, 25, wife of Mostafizur Rahman Mithu and their son Tashfian Rahman of Baranjul village.
The accident occurred around 8 pm when the paddy-laden truck rammed the motorbike carrying three people, leaving Zakia and Tashfian dead on the spot and Mithu, husband of Zakia, injured, said Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shahjahanpur Police Station.
Mithu was taken to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital.
Police seized the truck and arrested its driver.
In Barishal, three people were killed and three others injured as a bus rammed a trolley on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in an area under the Bimanbandar, or Airport Police Station area of the district on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Emdadul Haque, 38, son of Abul Kalam Howlader of Kashipur union, Nadeem Howlader, 12, son of Md Sentu Howlader of Rahmatpur Badamtala area, and Sinbad of the same area.
However, the identities of the injured could not be known immediately.
Lokman Hossain, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Biman Bandar police station, said the accident occurred around 2pm when the bus of Goon Goon Paribahan crashed into the trolley in Choy Mile Road area, leaving two people dead on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMCH) where doctors declared one of them dead upon arrival.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue for autopsies.
Police seized the bus but the driver and his helper managed to flee the scene, added the OC.
In Gazipur, a woman worker was killed and another injured in a road accident in Bymile area under Konabari Police Station in Gazipur City Corporation on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Rozina Akhter Bipasha, 26, wife of Ruhul Amin, in Kendua Police Station area in Netrakona district.
According to the police and locals, Rozina went to give an interview for a job at Kasem Lamp Factory in the area. At that time, a pickup van hit her around 9 am, leaving her dead on the spot and another woman injured, said sub-inspector (SI) of Konabari Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan Kamruzzaman Liton.
The injured was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, he added.
Legal measures are taken in this connection, the SI said.
In Ishwardi, a bus helper was killed and three passengers were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Ishwardi-Rajshahi highway in front of Muladuli College area of the upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Bhorat Chanda Sarker, 45, son of Narayan Chandra Sarker of Natore district.
The accident occurred in the area when a Pabna-bound passenger bus of Rabbi Paribahan from Rajshahi collided head-on with a 10-wheel truck, coming from the opposite direction around 10:10am, leaving the helper of the bus dead on the spot and three passengers of the bus injured, sub-inspector (SI) of Dashuria Highway Police Station Belal said.
The injured have been admitted to local hospital, he added.
