10 people injured as robbers loot cash, valuables

NARSINGDI, July 27 (UNB): At least 10 people were injured early Friday as armed robbers looted cash and valuables from the house of a man at Adiabad Puranhat village in Raipura Upazila, only a day ahead of his son's marriage.
Police said the bandits, numbering 25/30, swooped on the house of Asad Khan at about 3.00 am firing blank shots and blasting crackers.
They entered the house after breaking the doors and looted Tk 0.15 million (1.5 lakh) in cash, 10 tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables from the inmates and guests who came to attend the wedding of Asad's son, Kamrul.
The bandits mercilessly beat Asad, his wife Renuka, bridegroom Kamrul, his sister Sakhina and aunt Rehana, and five others, leaving five of them critically injured.
The critically injured, including the bridegroom, were admitted to Sadar Hospital. A case was filed.
