10 shop, 3 auto-rickshaws gutted in Noakhali

At least 10 shops and three CNG-run auto-rickshaws burnt down in a fire that broke out at an automobile workshop in Sonapur Kathpotti area of Noakhali town on Saturday morning. Kabir Ahmed, station officer of Maizdi Fire Service, said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at 'Sonapur Engineering Workshop' in the area at about 6:00am, burning down three CNG-run auto-rickshaws at the automobile workshop and nine other adjoining shops. Being informed, two firefighting units from Maizdi Fire Station rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts. The affected shop owners claimed that the loss caused by the fire would go up to Tk 30 million, according to UNB.
