10 shops gutted at Barguna market

BARGUNA, May 23 (UNB): Ten shops were gutted by a fire that broke out at a local market on the Sher-e-Bangla Road in the district town early Saturday.
Barguna Chamber of Commerce president Jahangir Kabir said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop at Barguna Bazar in the area and soon engulfed nine other adjoining shops around 2:30 am.
On information, a fire fighting unit rushed in and extinguished the blaze after two hours of frantic efforts with the help of local people.
The affected shop owners claimed that the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk 5 million (50 lakh).
