10 students fall sick after intake of poisonous water

PABNA, Apr 4 (UNB): At least 10 students of Baghoil No 2 Government Primary School fell sick following intake of insecticide-mixed water at Baghoil village at Pakshi in Ishwardi Monday.
They were rushed to Ishwardi Hospital. The victims are Israfil, 8, Sizan, 8, Amit, 8, Shakib, 8, Noyon, 8, Dipu, 8, Jisan, 8, Tarek, 8, Imon, 8, and Saikat, 8. All are students of Class II.
Israfil, son of Nowsher Ali of the village bought pesticide from a shop and brought the poison to school thinking that it was powdered soft drink.
Later, Israfil along with his nine classmates mixed the insecticide with water and drank. They fell seriously ill following intake of the poisonous water.
The Headmaster along with teachers and students of the school rushed them to hospital where the attending doctors immediately washed their stomach.
Doctors of the hospital said they are now out of danger.
Ishwardi thana officer Samiul Alam and Assistant Commissioner, Land, Shamim Ahmed visited the victims at the hospital.
Being informed a team of thana police went to the school immediately after the incident.
