10 ward commissioners jailed for corruption

BRAHMANBARIA, Oct 14 (UNB): As many as ten ward commissioners of Kosba Municipality were sentenced to two years' imprisonment by a court here Tuesday for corruption in a case filed by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) under the countrywide purge.
The convicted commissioners are: Jasimuddin, Hira, Chand Miah, Abul Hashem, Akter Hossain, Nizamuddin Dhanu, Ayesha Begum, Sheuli Akter, Nurunnabi Dulal and Anwara Begum.
After examining records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Sadequl Islam Talukder handed down the verdict.
