100-day employment generation scheme begins at Faridpur

FARIDPUR: The special 100-day employment generation programme for the hardcore and seasonal unemployed people was launched in all eight upazilas of the district recently at Gerda Union Parishad premises under Faridpur Sadar Upazila of the district.
Deputy Commissioner of the district Akteruzzaman Md Mostafa Kamal inaugurated the programme as the chief guest, while Faridpur Sadar Upazila UNO and district relief and rehabilitation officer attended there as the special guests. M Salem Mia, chairman of Gerda union parishad was in the chair.
The chief guest distributed cash money among the beneficiaries of the union and urged the people to make a grand success of the programme which was taken by the government in order to assist the poor including marginal farmers in overcoming job crisis and poverty-like situation during the Bangla months of Ashwin and Kartik.
The projects include construction and reconstruction of roads, bridges, culverts, earth filling and excavation and re-excavation of derelict ponds and canal and making compost fertiliser and removing water hyacinth from the water bodies.
The beneficiaries including women aged between 18 and 50 years from the poorer section of the district were enlisted as workers to complete the project work. Each worker will get Taka 100 per day as wage.
