100 hurt as Jamaat-Shibir men clash with cops in 3 dists

At least 100 people, including cops, were injured as Jamaat-Shibir men clashed with the members of the law enforcement agencies in Rajshahi, Pabna and Habiganj districts following the Supreme Court verdict on Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Delawar Hossain Sayedee on Wednesday for wartime offences in 1971. Besides, another 100 leaders and workers of Jamaat and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir were arrested in different districts in the country on Tuesday and Wednesday. Law enforcers picked them up on various charges, including, including obstructing government duties, violence and plotting subversive acts, centring on the SC judgment. The drive by the law-enforcers continued till early Thursday in many districts, cities and towns across the country, including Rajshahi, Habiganj and Pabna, according to private TV channels.
