100 injured in clashes

Our Correspondent HABIGANJ, Nov 9: At least 60 people were injured 12 critically and 5 persons were arrested in separate villagers' clashes at Ajmiriganj and Baniachong Upazila in Habiganj Wednesday. Police and local witnesses said, the clash ensued between supporters of former UP chairman Mohibur Rahman and his nephew Abadur Rahman Wednesday morning. 20 persons including women were injured, 5 critically and were sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile another clash took place between running UP member Cherag Ali and former UP member Abdul Mannan of Sadar Union under Ajmiriganj. Ajmiriganj Thana police rushed to the spot and fired rubber bullets on them to control the clash. BSS reports from Munshiganj: A total of 40 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Aldi area under Tongibari upazila here this morning. Among the injured persons, 15 sustained bullet injuries. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Tongibari thana, Kazi Daud Hossain said, the clash occurred between the supporters of Kathadia-Shimulia UP chairman Nur Mohammad and Ward Member Samsuddin Mia over the funds sharing of cattle market. Injured were admitted in different hospitals of Munshiganj and Dhaka. Additional police force were deployed in the area to keep the situation under control. None was arrested. Obituary CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Nov 9 (BSS): Salma Parveen Dolly, wife of the secretary of Chapainawabganj municipality Bablul Hoque and sister of the former chairman of the municipality late Abdul Mannan Sentu died of kidney related diseases on Tuesday night at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Sources in her family said, she had been suffering from kidney diseases for a long time. As she fell ill on Tuesday at around 8 pm, she was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the doctors on duty declared her dead at around 9 pm.
