100 injured in Habiganj clash

At least 100 people were injured in a clash between two groups in Baniachang upazila in Habiganj district on Thursday night. Police and locals said some youths of Ikram village had an altercation with some youths of Uttar Sangar village at a village fair at Ikram village on Tuesday. In a sequel to the incident, both groups engaged in a fierce clash yesterday. They attacked each other with lethal weapons leaving more than 100 injured on both sides. Police fired 210 rounds of rubber bullets and lobbed 42 tear gas canisters to quell the situation. Among the injured, five critically wounded were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital while others to Habiganj Sadar Hospital. Additional police were deployed in the two villages to avert further trouble, according to UNB.
