CHITTAGONG, May 26 (BSS): The authority of the Bangladesh Railway (BR) east zone in a special drive evicted Monday nearly one hundred illegal structures at the port city's Station Road.
The executive magistrate of the district administration Jamal Hossain accompanied by Chittagong Metropolitan and Railway police led the eviction drive from new railway station to Bottali where around 100 illegal structures were evicted.
A group of miscreants in connivance with some unscrupulous railway officials and employees had illegally been occupying a vast railway land for decades.
The BR authority said they had issued notices on the illegal occupants to remove their structures voluntarily but they did not comply with the order.
Estate officer of BR Eastern Zone Jasim Uddin and railway officials were present during the drive.
