100kg mortar shell found in Teknaf hill stolen

The mortar shell, found in a hill at Mathabhanga at Teknaf Upazila in Cox’s Bazar on August 5, was stolen on Saturday. Baharchhara union Parishad member Gias Uddin said miscreants stole the 32-inch-long powerful mortar shell weighing around 100 kg from the Panichhara Hill during rainfall. On information, a team of police, led by officer-in-charge M Mokhtar Hossain of Teknaf Model Police Station, visited the spot and detained five people for interrogation. Contacted, the OC said the mortar shell was not brought down from the hill due to its heavy weight after it had been found on August 5, according to BSS.
