1.016kg gold seized in Cox\\\'s Bazar

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel recovered 1.016 kilograms (kg) of gold in Teknaf Upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Thursday afternoon. The paramilitary force also arrested a man – a Myanmar national – in this connection. The arrested is Mohammad Nurul Bashar, 30, son of late Petan Ali of Mongdu Bali Bazar area in Arakan state of Myanmar. Being tipped off, a BGB patrol team took position at Sluice Gate-1 in Naf River, said Havildar Tabibur Rahman of BGB Battalion-42. The border guards conducted a drive there and challenged a trawler when it approached the sluice gate area. The BGB men stopped the engine-driven boat and recovered the gold worth Tk 4.41 million from the watercraft. However, the smugglers, who were aboard the trawler managed to escape. BGB held Myanmrese citizen Bashar from the helm of the boat, according to a news agency.
