Police in separate drives arrested 104 people, including 31 Jamaat-Shibir men, from different areas of Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj Sunamganj and Chuadanga districts on various charges, reports UNB.
In Sylhet, at least 73 people were arrested by police from different areas of Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Sunamganj districts in separate cases, including that of robbery and smuggling.
Additional DIG M Sakhawat Hossain of Sylhet said separate teams of police conducted separate drives in the four districts from Sunday night to Monday morning and arrested the 73 people, who were on the run.
The arrestees include 17 people from Sylhet, 10 from Moulvibazar, 28 from Habiganj and 18 from Sunamganj districts.
In Chuadanga, police in separate drives arrested 31 activists of the main opposition BNP and its political allies Jamaat-Shibir from different places of three upazilas of the district from Sunday night to early Monday on charges of their involvement in vandalism and subversive activities.
The arrestees include 14 from Sadar, 14 from Alamdanga and three from Damurhuda upazilas.
