104 industries with Tk 18b investment registered in Feb

A total of 104 industrial units involving an investment proposal of over Tk 18 billion were registered with the Board of Investment (BoI) in February this year, reports BSS.
Of the total registered units, 95 with investment of Tk 16.4382 billion are local units, while six are 100 per cent foreign-funded units and three are joint ventures.
The involvement of investment for foreign and joint venture units totals Tk 1.5668 billion, an official handout said.
The highest investment during the month has been registered for textile sector (28.47 per cent), while it was the second for service sector (26.65 per cent). The proposals have projected an employment opportunity for 20,437 persons.
In January this year, 95 local industrial units with investment proposal of Tk 11.5767 billion and 16 joint ventures and 100 per cent foreign-funded units with Tk 2.3653 billion investment proposals were registered with the BoI.
The proposal for investment of local funds in February was 42 per cent higher than that of January, but investment proposal for foreign and joint venture units fell by 33.75 per cent.
The overall investment proposal in February is satisfactory, as it has been increased by 22.57 per cent compared to that of January.
The investment proposal in February this year was 37.11 per cent higher than that of February 2009, which was Tk 11.3229 billion.
