11 Jamaat men among 84 arrested in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 11 (BSS): A total of 84 people, including 11 activists of Jamaat-Shibir, were arrested in separate raids conducted at different places in the district during the past 48 hours ending this (Monday) morning, police sources said.
The Jamaat-Shibir men were arrested for their suspicious movements and in connections with various cases filed against them and for their alleged involvements with conducting subversive activities, vandalism and arson in recent times in the district.
Kotwali Police arrested Jamaat-Shibir men including Sohel, 40, Mezbah, 18, Jashim, 18, Hamidur, 20, Rakibul, 18, Shamsul, 23, Hassan, 19, Azizar, 23 and Nazmul, 25, while Mithapukur Thana Police picked up Jamaat activists Anarul Haque, 44, and Ashraful, 32.
Besides, police arrested other 73 people, including listed criminals and terrorists, as per court warrants and in connections with different cases filed against them from all over eight upazilas and Rangpur city during the period.
