Tuesday, 24 September 2019

At least 11 leaders and activists of BNP's student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were injured in an attack allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men on the Dhaka University campus on Monday, report agencies.
The injured received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Witnesses said the incident occurred around 12.30 pm when JCD activists gathered in front of Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) to welcome their new central committee members.
They said three campus reporters also came under attack while performing their professional duties on the campus.
The three injured journalists are Anisur Rahman, Rafatul Islam Rafi and Afsar Munna.
The attacks came as private broadcaster My TV was interviewing JCD General Secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamol at Hakim Chattar.
Contacted, JCD central committee general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shaymol alleged the BCL men, led by its DU unit president Sanjit Chandra Das, assaulted them without any provocation.
He claimed that they also snatched their one bike and a mobile phone, he claimed.
But, BCL DU unit president Sanjit denied all the allegations and blamed the JCD men for trying to destabilise the campus deliberately.
