11 killed as bus runs over several pedestrians

At least eleven people have been killed and 20 others injured when a bus ran over several pedestrians after losing control and then fell into a roadside ditch in Barisal’s Ujirpur Upazila, according to a news agency.
Ujirpur Police Station OC Anwar Hossain said the accident took place around 6:30pm Friday in the Upazila’s Ichhladi area.
“The Dhaka-bound Hanif Paribahan bus ran over several pedestrian after the driver lost control and then fell into a ditch near the toll plaza of MA Jalil Bridge.”
Five people were killed on the spot, Hossain said.Six of the injured were declared dead when they were rushed to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital. The deceased were yet to be identified, the OC said.
