11 killed in road accidents in dists

Our correspondent TANGAIL, Nov 22: Six persons were killed in a road mishap tuesday on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Dullah mansur point in Mirzapur thana. Among the deceased are Shafiqul of Delduar Upazila and Habu Miah, 45, of Mirzapur Upazila and four other unidentified persons. The accident occurred when a Dhaka bound passenger bus from north Bengal collided head on during overtaking a minibus. After the accident agitated people set the bus on fire. Four including two passengers and bus and the truck drivers were killed on the spot and another two passengers died on way to hospital. A case has been field in Mirzapur police station. Another report from Khulna adds: Three presons including two women died in separated accidents in Khulna district on Monday. The deceased were identified as Noni Gopal Halder (75), son of late Avilash Halder of village Dighraj under Batiaghata thana, Anwara Begum (85), wife of Nader Shaikh of village Arakandi under Terokhada Upazila and Arpona Mistry (22) wife of Komol Mistry of village Halia under Batiaghata Upazila of Khulna distrct. Police and local source said that the accidents occurred; Noni Gopal (75) a passerby was going to nearby grocery shop while reached Dighraj bazar area on Khulna-Mongla high way a Khulna bound speeding truck hit Noni Gopal from backside. He fell down in a roadside ditch and died on way to Khulna Medical College Hospital. BSS reports from Noakhali says: Mejbah Uddin Haroon, a lawyer of Noakhali District Judge Court, was killed in a road accident at Sonapur on the Sonapur-Maijdi road in Sadar upazila of Noakhali district Monday. Quoting the locals, Sadar thana police said the accident occurred when a truck knocked Advocate Haroon, 30, while he was going back home from the court by his motorbike. Seriously injured Haroon was rushed to Dhaka for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. Another UNB report from Madaripur adds: A woman passer-by was killed in a road accident at Rajoir in Rajoir upazila in Madaripur on Tuesday. Anjali Roy, 60, resident of Char Mostafapur of upazila, was injured as an easy bike hit her while she was crossing a road at noon. The injured was rushed to a local where she died after admission. Police later caught the easy bike along with its driver.
