11 killed in separate incidents in 8 dists

NARSINGDI, May 12 (UNB): At least 11 people were killed and nine others injured in separate incidents in Gazipur, Narshingdi, Pabna, Natore, Jhenidah, Dinajpur, Sylhet and Rajbari districts Wednesday. In Jhenidah, Awami League worker, Tulu Sikder (32), son of Yousuf Sikder of Aruakandi Ghat village of Shailakupa Upazila was killed in an intra-party clash at the village at 9:15pm Thursday. Shailakupa thana officer said, Tulu was returning home from Raira Bazar. When he reached Aruakandi Ghat, rival group members attacked him with sharp weapons, chopped him indiscriminately, leaving him seriously injured. He was first taken to Shailakupa hospital and died on way to the Jhenidah Sadar hospital. In Gazipur, a minor girl was hit in the head and hacked to death by unknown assailants and the body was dumped inside boundary wall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman Agricultural University in Salna in Sadar Upazila early Wednesday. Police said the victim, Farhana (5), daughter of Md Ilias Khan. In separate incident, Hridoy Hossain (14), son of Harejul Mia of Porabari of Madarganj of Jamalpur district, was hit and instantly killed by a Dhaka-bound truck at Maleker Bari in Gazipur Sadar Upazila at 3pm today. In Sylhet, two people were killed in separate road crashes in Surma and Jokiganj Upazilas today. Beauty Rani Bhoumik (50), a NGO employee and an instructor of Sylhet Jubo Academy, died on the spot after falling from a running motorcycle. In separate accident, Taher (3), son of Abul Kalam of Maijkandi of Jokiganj municipality, was instantly killed and his mother Rahima Begum and brother Talha were injured hit by a Jokiganj-bound bus on Sylhet Jokiganj road in Maijkandi Madrasa area. In Dinajpur, Rakib (7), son of Md Kuddus of Dangapara village of Hakimpur Upazila, was killed on the spot and his three other play mates were injured as a Bogra-bound truck from Hili Land Port skidded off road fell on them when they were playing at a roadside fieldy. In Natore, two minors were killed in separate road crashes in Lalpur and Singra Upazilas today. Irin Khatun (7), daughter of Abdul Hakim of Nabinagar village of Lalpur was hit and instantly killed by a Ishwardi-bound truck from Rajshahi on Lalpur-Ishwardi road at Nabinagar at 7pm. In another accident, Arman (5), son of Afaz Uddin of Bandar area of Singra was hit and instantly killed by a speedy bus when he was crossing Natore-Bogra highway at Bandar in the afternoon. In Pabna, peasdant Munnaf (28), son of Annas of Sundarkandi village of Santhia Upazila died on the spot in lightning strike. In Narsingdi, Amal Sarkar (21), a BA first year student of Narsingdi Govt College, slipped deep into Meghna River and drowned as he was taking bath in the river near Narsingdi town. In Rajbari, two unidentified bodies, a girl and a youth, were recovered from Padmar Char in Sadar Upazila early today.
