1.10 kg gold seized at Shahjalal Airport

Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport seized 1.10 kg gold from three passengers from Kuala Lumpur in separate incidents on Thursday morning. Assistant Commissioner (customs) Al Amin said they held Alal Uddin (30) and Abdur Rahim (35) with 700g gold when they landed at the airport from an aircraft of United Airways at about 5:35 am. When Alal Uddin and Abdur Rahim were crossing the airport green channel, customs officials there challenged them and found gold in their possession, said the AC (customs). Later, the customs officials challenged another passenger identified as Omar Faruk, a resident of Munshiganj, who arrived at the airport by BG-87 flight from Malaysia at about 5:15 am. The customs officials recovered 400g gold from his luggage.    — UNB
