11.7kg gold seized at Shahjalal

Customs officials seized 100 gold bars weighing 11.7 kg from a flight of ‘Flydubai Airlines’ at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in the city on Monday. Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Farid Al Mamun of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Int’l Airport said a flight of ‘Flydubai Airlines’ from Dubai landed at the airport around 10:30am. Tipped-off, a team of customs officials conducted a drive in the flight around 11:00am and recovered 100 gold bars worth Tk 53 million (5.30 crore) kept hidden under a seat, said Farid Al Mamun. None was arrested in this connection, according to UNB.
