1.1kg gold seized at Shahjalal Airport

Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday seized 1.1kg gold from three passengers in separate incidents.
Assistant Commissioner (customs) Al Amin said they held Alal Uddin, 30, and Abdur Rahim, 35, with 700g gold when they landed at the airport from an aircraft of United Airways at about 5:35 am, a news agency report said.
When Alal Uddin and Abdur Rahim were crossing the airport green channel, customs officials there challenged them and found gold in their possession, said the AC (Customs).
He said two belt buckles made of gold, weighing 460 grams, were found in Alal Uddin's possession, while 250 grams of gold were found inside Rahim's luggage.
Later, the customs officials challenged another passenger identified as Omar Faruk, a resident of Munshiganj, who arrived at the airport by BG-87 flight from Malaysia at about 5:15 am, while he was crossing the airport green channel at about 9:45 am.
The customs officials recovered 400g gold from his luggage.
