12 gold bars recovered at Shahjalal

Customs officials seized 12 gold bars, weighing 1.2 kg, and arrested a man in this connection at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in the city on Tuesday night. The arrested is Shah Zaman Akon Mohammad Tajul Islam, 42, hailing from Comilla district. DG of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate Mainul Khan said Tajul arrived in Dhaka from Kuala Lumpur by a flight of Malindo Air ‘MXD-162’ around 9:05pm. Tipped off, customs officials challenged Tajul while crossing the green channel and recovered the gold bars, worth Tk 6 million, from his shoes. Tajul traveled to Malaysia four times this month, Mainul Khan added, according to UNB.
