12 Hindu idols vandalised in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Apr 25: Unidentified miscreants vandalised some 12 idols in two Hindu temples in the district town and at Gopalpur village in Sadar upazila Thursday night.
Borogara Durgacharan Sarkar, president of Shashan Kali Temple at the Gopalpur, said the miscreants stormed into the worship place sometime on Thursday night and damaged six idols, according to a news agency.
MA Kawsar, officer-in-charge of Netrakona Model Police Station, said they arrested Sumon, 14, and Bijoy, 8, for their alleged involvement in the incident.
In another incident, unknown miscreants vandalised six more idols of different Hindu goddesses at Satpai Kali Temple in the town.
The incident came to light Friday morning when devotees went to the temple.
