12 officials of Bakhrabad Gas agree to return Tk 20m money

In a rare venture 12 officials of Bakhrabad Gas Systems have agreed to return to the exchequer Tk 20 million (2 crore) they acquired through illegal means, reports UNB.
CBA (employees union) leaders are among the officials who submitted an affidavit in the court promising return of the ill-gotten money.
First class magistrate Ataul Ghani held the court in the Bakrabad Gas office on Thursday.
Those signed the affidavit are CBA former president Abul Kashem, general secretary Alamgir Patwari, organising secretary Akter Hossain, joint secretary Shahidul Islam Khandker, Chittagong CBA unit president Abdur Rab, Chandpur CBA unit president Rehan Mily, engineers Tajul Islam and Obaidur Rahman, manager Dibakar Sen Gupta, assistant manager Jasimuddin, technician Khaled Saifullah and employee Mainul.
But they did not voluntarily agree to return the ill-gotten money, officials said. Their illegal wealth were unearthed by teams of joint forces and task force during investigation carried out since April last following allegation of their corruption.
