12 on remand over lynching of Hindu youth in M'singh

A Mymensingh court has placed 12 persons on a three-day remand in connection with the killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district on December 18, report agencies.
Senior Chief Judicial Magistrate Shahdat Hossain passed the order on Tuesday, said court inspector Sheikh Mostasinur Rahman.
Those who were remanded are Ashiqur Rahman (25), Quaiyum (25), Limon Sarkar (19), Tarek Hossain (19), Manik Mia (20), Ershad Ali (39), Nijum Uddin (20), Alamgir Hossain (38), Miraz Hossain Akon (46), Azmal Hasan Sagir (26), Shaheen Mia (19) and Nazmul (21).
On December 19, Apu Chandra Das, younger brother of Dipu filed a case with Bhaluka Police Station.Police arrested 12 people from different parts of the district.Dipu Chandra Das (28), a local garment worker, was beaten to death by a mob over alleged blasphemy.
